As an IVA Instructor, Simona is committed to on-going training, regularly attending seminars, master classes and teacher training events worldwide to develop her own skills both as a teacher and vocalist.

The Technique

The IVA technique is based on 17th and 18th Century principles of singing developed by the Old Italian School of Singing. Our goal is to train voices to sing in a free and natural manner, smoothly, from the bottom of the range to the top with no breaks or sudden changes in quality. Training in this technique gives you access to all dynamics, with tonal clarity and flexibility. It also helps improve your range, endurance, stamina, breath control, resonance, vocal strength and vocal quality across all styles of music without fatigue or damage to the voice. We accomplish these results by training the singer to find a balance between airflow and intrinsic muscular resistance, all within a resting laryngeal posture.

How It works?

IVA is a technique based on the recognition and use of the “bridges” or “passaggi” in the voice. The bridges are the area of the voice where vocal cord adjustment must take place in order to sing both high and low in our range. The IVA technique frees the vocalist to sing with a connected tone from the bottom of the range to the top by keeping the larynx down and the vocal cords together appropriately. Traditional vocal methods often only address using the bottom of the range (chest voice) for pop/theater styles or just using the top of the range (head voice) for classical styles which limits a singer in their capacity to sing throughout their range with a connected, uniform voice. The key to IVA is in understanding the bridges and learning to mix. Not using the voice properly throughout the whole range can lead to strain, incorrect pitch, vocal fatigue, and vocal damage.

Simona's lessons are excellent from start to end. From the beginning she makes you feel very comfortable, which I found very useful being someone who lacks confidence in singing. throughout the lessons she keeps record of your voice, making sure to tailor the lessons to your style. I have found that my voice has improved after only two lessons, finding it easier to sing certain songs and have more flow. She's also very friendly and easy to talk to so you feel relaxed throughout. I think she gives great quality lessons at a very competitive price - I couldn't ask fof anything better!
